The HS Property Hub Hotel Management, Franchise and Finance Agreements After the Pandemic

Agreements made before the pandemic must be revisited either to agree alternative arrangements for a limited period to support recovery or amended to address the long-term consequences of the pandemic.

New agreements must reflect what we learnt – who bore the risks and costs of unexpected major disruption.

At the same time agreements for the future must include terms that reflect where the costs of climate change will fall and who will finance and bear them.

HS Property Hub Speaker Aurel Barkowski

Aurel conducts feasibility and advisory studies for a wide array of hotel projects in the EMEA region. Aurel attended the Hotelschool The Hague in the Netherlands from where he graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration. Prior to joining CBRE hotels, Aurel worked in both administrative and operational positions at the Intercontinental Berlin. Further practical experience was gained in the strategy department of extrabold, a South- African hotel management company based in Johannesburg.

Jane is an Executive Director of CBRE Hotels and Head of the Hotel Valuation team for the EMEA region. Specialising in Hotel Valuations, Jane offers over 20 years of extensive experience in the corporate real estate business. Prior to joining CBRE Hotels Jane led the healthcare valuation team at Colliers International. Jane has spent time working in Hong Kong within the valuation team at Jones Lang LaSalle. She undertook valuations in Hong Kong, China and the Philippines, primarily dealing with large mixed-use developments incorporating hotels, retail, offices and residential.
