This tutorial teaches the fundamentals of metadata and taxonomy, including standards, best practices, and governance needed to manage your content in your DAM. Metadata matters because not only does it define us at any given point in time, but it also gives structure and meaning to the data associated with all that we do in our business.

Bob Baxley is a designer, executive, and advisor who has built and led UX teams at some of Silicon Valley’s most respected companies including Apple, Pinterest, and Yahoo!. During a career spanning over three decades, Bob has played a pivotal role in the design of the Apple Online Store, Yahoo! Answers, the AppleStore App, Buyable Pins, and ClarisWorks – products that have been used by over a billion people around the world. Currently, Bob serves as the Senior Vice-President of Design at ThoughtSpot, a data analytics platform.

Tracey has a 25-year career in DAM at GLAM institutions. She believes that transparency and good communication are key factors to success in any DAM implementation. Developing trusted partnerships between disparate groups of GLAM staff – curators, archaeologists, librarians, arborists, IT, hospitality, sales and marketing- can positively bridge the gap between tradition and technology.

Chris Wheeler is Vice President of Creative Services for Content Licensing at Warner Bros. Discovery. Chris’ team supports television sales and marketing with a full suite of design services including promo production, graphic design, motion graphics, presentation design and video shoots.

Dario is a global design leader with over a decade of experience in HCI, usability engineering, information architecture, digital product design, and DesignOps.

Throughout his career, Dario has collaborated with industry leaders in Switzerland and across the world, unifying user experiences and enhancing efficiency. His projects have included working on user experiences, implementing DesignOps methodologies, and leading delivery excellence initiatives that equip high-performing teams with tools and processes to accelerate delivery and increase quality.
