Paul Winstone is a chartered building surveyor and joined Watts in 1979. He is a director in the London office responsible for the building pathology team and the chair of Watts’ Health & Safety Committee. During his long career Paul has been involved in the full range of professional building surveying services, including party walls; dilapidations; schedules of condition; rights of light; fire insurance valuations; providing sundry advice and preparing and administering contracts for alterations, repairs and maintenance and providing planning supervisor services.

Len has more than 30 years' experience in the commercial property sector. In 1990, he set up Jansons, a niche agency specialising in industrial in North and West London. Joining global real estate advisor Colliers International in 2006, Len is now the Head of the UK Logistics and Industrial division where he runs a team of over 25 professionals across the UK. In 2018, the Colliers International Industrial & Logistics team completed over 250 deals totalling approximately 20 million sq ft.

Paul worked in Government at the Ministry of Housing Communities & Local Government and the Department for Transport before joining Town. Paul advised on all aspects of planning and infrastructure law with strong expertise in compulsory purchase. He advised on the CPO reforms in the Housing and Planning Act 2016 and Neighbourhood Planning Act 2017, and revisions to the national Compulsory Purchase Guidance.

This session is designed for landowners, developers, construction companies, acquiring authorities and their advisers and will focus on current trends in law, policy and best practice relating to compulsory purchase and compensation. It will look at notable recent decisions and changes in legislation.

David is an associate in the real estate team. He acts for individuals, trusts and companies in connection with the acquisition and disposal of rural property, and the sale and purchase of residential properties. David also advises owners of rural and urban property on a broad spectrum of property management matters relating to their portfolios, including leases, options and mortgages.
